Sorry this is late...just wanted to post a little bit about Oscars fashion this year. Overall I thought it was pretty good, very old Hollywood glamour with a soft romantic side. The jewelery was kept to a minimum but the pieces that were seen were gorgeous and bold. The overall Oscars were pretty good, Hugh Jackman I love so anything he did was hard not to like. The opening was well done too, especially Anne Hathaway's part.
Oh and these aren't in any paticular order. Kate Winslet in Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati. The asymmetrical single strap was so understated and looked gorgeous on her. The color looked great as well with her skin tone. The dress seems unpredictable with pieces that look like an afterthought but fit in so well. The black tulle on the side adds so much to the dress and covers the fact that she only wears earrings, any more would have have taken away too much.
Amanda Seyfried in Valentino Haute Couture. I loved the color on her because it was reminiscent of bold Marilyn Monroe style however I'm always unsure about whether or not I like the big bows on dresses. I feel like a dress can always stand on its own without a bow, and if it's too big it's a little Minnie Mouse-ish.
After Party photo...Jessica Alba's dress looks very casual, hope it was just for the party. Kate Bosworth's dress is gorgeous and flattering but I don't know about the hairstyle, she kind of looks like a nine year old boy..
Gwen Stefani's dress is soooo fabulous! It's so original, I don't know who made it so if anyone does please let me know. It looks almost like coral at the top..like something The Little Mermaid would wear if she went out to a black tie event on the arm of her handsome prince.
Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab. She always tends to go for strapless dresses to award shows and of course she always looks very elegant but I was hoping she would change it up at least a little. And a black dress at the Oscars? Her green earrings stand out and are gorgeous but I think she could have picked something a little more original.
Another in Elie Saab was Evan Rachel Wood. She always looks so much older than she is. I think that her style has actually improved since she went out with Marilyn Monroe she started following in the trend of Dita Von Teese and the look really works for her.
Anne Hathaway in Georgio Armani, she's so cute, she looks like a little mermaid..I don't understand why she changed for the beginning of the Oscars, I know she had to sing and dance but I don't really like the dress she changed into.
She is a surprisingly good singer though.
Beyonce is awesome for wearing this dress. House of Dereon. It looks a little bit like a curtain that was turned into a dress but I love that it hugs her curves and comes out at the bottom, it looks gorgeous on her and she wasn't afraid that she wouldn't look like a stick like everyone else and for that she is fabulous.
Frieda Pinto in John Galliano looks so gorgeous!!! She's so pretty, I haven't even seen Slumdog Millionaire now but I can't wait to. Apparently there was controversy over what she wore because people thought she should have worn a Sari to represent India however I don't think she had to, I'm sure she could have found a gorgeous Sari but the dress she wore suited her perfectly.
Another after party photo. Eva Longoria, Victoria Beckhan and Dita Von Teese. Dita looks amazing as per usual but I felt like Ms.Beckham kind of fell flat, at such a large scale party she should have worn something daring and original...maybe like Dita..? But it's not that fair that I judge it because I can only see the top.
Leslie Mann in Pamella Roland, she totally pulls this dress off. Quite a few of these dresses are Little Mermaid-esque, how much does this look like the glittery dress she wears at the end of the movie when she turns into a human? And also I had no idea she was married to Judd Apatow...cute.
MY FAVORITE!! Natalie Portman in Rodarte. She looks so soft and romantic in the flowing pink dress. It's such a princess-y color and she looks absolutely perfect.
Penelope Cruz in vintage Balmain. She looks so much like Audrey Hepburn in this dress with her hair up, I'm so glad she won, her speech was one of the best.
Who would have thought? Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murad looks stunning. So beautiful! And so mature! She really stole the show in this dress.
and Heath won! I'm so glad he did, I still get teary whenever I think about him and the acceptance of his mom, dad, and sister was really sentimental. And his sister is so gorgeous, did anyone else think so?

It's Not Me, It's You
Today was definitely one of those blah Mondays that disguised itself as a Tuesday. So I threw on a red plaid oversized shirt I bought from a thrift store recently expecting to be able to wear it as a dress though unfortunately it was wayyy too short for social standards. So I put a black Anthropologie dress under it which actually gave it more volume at the bottom..belted it with an old brown belt of my mother's, and added black tights and brown worn-in cowboy boots. It turned out much better than expected. You can't actually tell the shirt is plaid in the full pictures so I threw a close up one in so you could see the pattern.
