I know this happened a while ago but I'm really glad Kirsten Dunst was chosen to be the spokesperson for this line of clothes. She has such an edgy distinct look and I think she pulls off these looks very well. I haven't seen these clothes anywhere though, does anyone know where they are sold? Wish I could post more but I am swamped by homework, I believe everyone who told me being a second semester senior in high school was easy was totally and completely lying.....

I apologize for my teenage angst

I just need to rant a little bit at how angry I am for not being organized enough to volunteer early for the New York Fashion Week. I just tried to email but the volunteer office has closed. If there is anyone out there with any kind of advice or help for how to attend Fashion Week please please let me know.

Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show

So this weekend I finally took a trip into the city to go shopping instead of just seeing friends, something I haven't done in ages, dumb recession...anyway I went to the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show for the first time at the Metropolitan Pavilion and it was amazinggggg. There were heaps and heaps of clothes, I was so utterly overwhelmed. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take pictures in there but trust me it was massive. Tons of vintage stores from all over the city set up stalls and bring in some of their best vintage clothing. The prices ranged from reasonable to insane but for the most part it wasn't too bad. I went in trying to find a white dress for my graduation, no one will ever know why my school is forcing us to graduate in 'appropriate' all white dresses but I'm already fighting a losing battle against them....that quest proved to be quite unsuccessful. But not for lack of trying. I did find quite a few cute dresses but all the sizes are so deceptively small. Many of them look like they would fit easily but each piece is about two sizes smaller than you would guess. The other problem was that in this huge room there were only two dressing rooms which weren't really rooms at all rather just sheets hung up against a corner. But I did enjoy walking around looking at all the different clothes imaging where people wore them and who wore them once upon a time.

Some of the clothes were utterly ridiculous so trying to think of a back story for them was quite amusing. I'm also a little bit suspect of whether or not all the clothes are actually vintage because in one stall I found a cardigan that still had an Anthropologie tag on it. Antropologie was only started in 1992 so even if it is that old, which it didn't seem to be, that's not really what I would consider vintage. I did purchase a beautiful old ring, its a gold band with an opal surrounded by little diamonds. It's gorgeous.
So the show was only two days so any of you I have enticed to go..well you can't..but there will be another one on April 24th and 25th and then another in October.

1950s Pinup Girl Reincarnated in Katy Perry

Katy Perry has such a quirky fun style. It's as if she has created this intricate character to go along with her famous-self yet she never breaks it..I have never seen pictures of her wearing anything other than her usual retro attire.


Another reason I really admire her is because she is not too drastically thin.
She really does look reminiscent of Pinup girls from the 1950s and pulls it off beautifully.
I have no idea where she gets all those clothes from and whether or not she gets them made especially for her but other celebs just can't pull off the look.

Thirteen is a Lucky Number

At least for Olivia Wilde. Her new role on House as part of his team has gained her a lot more publicity. She is very feminine and delicately beautiful. Apparently she was considered as the Bond girl for the Casino Royale movie but Eva Green ended up getting it. She always chooses beautiful flowing gowns that compliment her small figure.

She doesn't focus a lot on accessories and that works well for her.

She is definitely one of those people who could look good in a potato sack yet she does not just throw things on expecting them to look good. It seems like she really spends time looking for hues that compliment her skin tone and fits that work well.

This is by far my favorite dress I have seen her in. It is the epitome of understated elegance. She is radiating and can pull off all the ruffles because of her figure. I only wish I could pull that off.

Try-Hards

What the hell is Urban Outfitter's trying to accomplish with their catalogues? It seems as though they are trying to be Abercrombie and Fitch or American Apparel. Their latest catalogue barely shows off the clothes at all. There is actually one picture of a naked girl with a quilt in the background and that's the only thing they're advertising. Why do they need a naked girl in the picture as well, if they're marketing this towards teenage girls I don't really understand the thinking behind that. It is becoming an art magazine instead of a clothing catalogue. Sure the pictures are pretty but I really don't understand why they have to be so arty, they're not being original, they're following other companies who have tried to sell clothing by featuring barely clothed models. If this works I'll be highly surprised, I want the old catalogues back!
