1950s Pinup Girl Reincarnated in Katy Perry

Katy Perry has such a quirky fun style. It's as if she has created this intricate character to go along with her famous-self yet she never breaks it..I have never seen pictures of her wearing anything other than her usual retro attire.

Another reason I really admire her is because she is not too drastically thin.
She really does look reminiscent of Pinup girls from the 1950s and pulls it off beautifully.
I have no idea where she gets all those clothes from and whether or not she gets them made especially for her but other celebs just can't pull off the look.

Thirteen is a Lucky Number

At least for Olivia Wilde. Her new role on House as part of his team has gained her a lot more publicity. She is very feminine and delicately beautiful. Apparently she was considered as the Bond girl for the Casino Royale movie but Eva Green ended up getting it. She always chooses beautiful flowing gowns that compliment her small figure.

She doesn't focus a lot on accessories and that works well for her.

She is definitely one of those people who could look good in a potato sack yet she does not just throw things on expecting them to look good. It seems like she really spends time looking for hues that compliment her skin tone and fits that work well.

This is by far my favorite dress I have seen her in. It is the epitome of understated elegance. She is radiating and can pull off all the ruffles because of her figure. I only wish I could pull that off.

Try-Hards

What the hell is Urban Outfitter's trying to accomplish with their catalogues? It seems as though they are trying to be Abercrombie and Fitch or American Apparel. Their latest catalogue barely shows off the clothes at all. There is actually one picture of a naked girl with a quilt in the background and that's the only thing they're advertising. Why do they need a naked girl in the picture as well, if they're marketing this towards teenage girls I don't really understand the thinking behind that. It is becoming an art magazine instead of a clothing catalogue. Sure the pictures are pretty but I really don't understand why they have to be so arty, they're not being original, they're following other companies who have tried to sell clothing by featuring barely clothed models. If this works I'll be highly surprised, I want the old catalogues back!

You wanna live in the ZIP, you gotta live by the code.

So I'm watching a rerun of the new 90210 on the CW, my first episode and I'm already hooked, this is gonna be as bad as the Gossip Girl phenomenon, just as intense, and of course, the clothes are just as fabulous. The clothes on this show are much younger and obtainable, not the same as all the designer labels seen on Gossip Girl. My favorite is Silver (the dark brunette girl) because she's got a unique, colorful and quirky style. The main character Annie also looks great, wearing Urban Outfitters and H&M and the other main girl Naomi who is more prone to be wearing Chanel earrings but still looks fabulous.

"Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess."

The words of Edna Woolman Chase seem to be enough to inspire me to begin my blog once again, I know this is my second time returning from la-la land with promises to upkeep my poor neglected blog but I shall try much harder this time. Besides, most of my friends have left me for college and what better way to procrastinate homework and college apps than blog about the cute shirt I saw yesterday or how great so and so looked at some award show. Besides "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." - Coco Chanel. I fully agree, fashion isn't just the outfit you wear, it's why you wear it, how you came up with it, where you wear it, and how it can change your mood. Fashion is a hobby, a lifestyle, an idea, the future, the past, the present, fashion is everywhere, and I love it.
So I am going to ease myself back into this blogging thing and just babble on about a few of my favorite inspirations at the moment.

Peaches Geldof is hit or miss, sometimes she looks great and her style is much more realistic for teenage girls because she isn't always stepping out drowning in name brands like Chanel or Zac Posen, although I don't know if British celebrities wear much Zac Posen...Peaches' sister Pixie has a great style, maybe just because its a little bit closer to mine but I haven't seen an outfit on her that I have disliked..

However I just found a picture of Peaches Geldof and this girl named Daisy Lowe..? Has anyone else heard of her, the name doesn't ring a bell but I loooove her outfit in this picture, especially with the hot pink Doc Martens, they're amazing.

Well, after some further investigation I found out she's the daughter of Gavin Rossdale and is very cool..and fashionable, I'll write more about her later..as well as how much I love Rihanna extending the star tattoo down her back.

Rugging up for Wintertime

I love the 80's. Despite the huge hair and ridiculous blue eyeshadow, there are so many trends from the 80's that I want to make a reappearance, and many others which already have, high-waisted skirts and pants....and the latest to show up on the streets of New York..leg warmers. I. Love. Them.
There are some people who may think this trend should stay back in the 80s but I love the way they look and despite what most people think they actually do help in keeping you slightly warmer. Slightly.
I don't think Urban Outfitters has started selling them again yet but I do know that American Apparel is complete with eleven different colours for only $14 each.

Pairing them with converse with coloured tights and a cute dress is becoming hard to stay away from. This week I found myself wanting to pull on the leg warmers with every single outfit, but I stopped myself, making sure I didn't go against my fashion rules of repetition.

Also, anyone who has a good idea for a costume party this weekend let me know, i'm looking for something cute that becomes sexy, like a sexier snow white or something..

this boy wants to play, there's no time left today...

one of the sexiest men i have seen like a foot away from my face...far out
james morrison is a sex god
for those of you who weren't aware, hopefully you will be now
his album undiscovered is a hidden treasure...and every single song is even better up close and personal,
plus i saw him in this wicked little venue in nyc that was full of women who see him as an...'dreamboat'? i mean he is, obviously, but still it was funny to see all these mum's in there, and there were no guys there that had not been dragged along by an obsessed girlfriend
the show was opened by jessie baylin who was actually pretty good, but her set was extremely long for an opening act, and the annoyed/anxious/excited buzz of everyone who just wanted to see james morrison could be heard during her singing.
james opened with undiscovered and strummed his gorgeous guitar with a full band behind him who you could tell, were there for the music, and especially the keyboard player didn't care how insane he looked as he played, each one clearly was so into the music making it an unbelievable concert in all aspects,
james had this way of talking to the crowd as well, in his amazing british accent, that gave it the atmosphere it needed

it was indescribable and i never ever wanted it to end
